Super Smart Ringtone-Album: Sales Figures beat the Records
"Panda Babies", the first ringtone album worldwide, beats the records. Since the release in May 2004, it has been sold more than 42,000 times digitally in Europe and the US. This figure beats all expectations of GOFRESH Mobile Music. For Toni Werner Montana, Label Manager of GOFRESH Mobile Music, it proves that the market is ready for digital sales of music via mobile phones. "Despite the success, there will be no CD release." says the Label Manager.
"Panda Babies" is the first music album in the world, which is offered as Real-Tone- ringtones (a ringtone format with integrated voices) for mobile phones only. Furthermore the video of the single "I like your records", which is only available for mobile phones, has been downloaded more than 6000 times via WAP/UMTS/Internet. An important reason for GOFRESH Mobile Music to continue with breaking new grounds: "Music-TV for mobile phones is only a question of time!" says GOFRESH Chief Developer Jukka Saarelainen, "We are preparing to launch some really innovative ideas. This is an exciting time!"
"I have to admit, that I had some doubts about the sole mobile sale of the album. But the sales success, the power of Super Smart and the worldwide press response convinced me: This is future-oriented sales." says Sabine Irrgang, Managing Director of GOFRESH GmbH. "Particularly the sales figures in Spain and Italy are very positive. We have sold more than 50 percent of the albums there, although part of the songs are in German."
The band Super Smart is happy about this outstanding success, too: "We can release directly from the studio without loosing time. And without a compulsory tearjerker!" states "Flamingo", who is living in Southern France at the moment. Super Smart already prepares the next album and the video of the next single which will be released at Popkomm, the music trade fair, in Berlin end of September. There will be 500 promotion albums including the new video distributed on mobile phone memory cards - quite a novelty!
